Meetings: 48 minutes, everyday
Open to: Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors,
Seniors
Students
will learn basic methods and drawing techniques—freehand, mechanical
and computer assisted, to produce industrially acceptable drawings.
During the course students will be encouraged to develop and use a
logical approach to problem solving as well as visualization skills
necessary to interpret 2D drawings, pictorials, and 3D wire frame
representations. Learning to manipulate a full featured 2D CAD
program, from planning to plotting will be a centralized theme
throughout the year. This course should be considered a MINIMUM
requirement for any student wishing to pursue a career in
engineering, drafting, or technology based occupations. (Rev Nov

GENERAL OBJECTIVES
-
This
course is offered in the hope that through better comprehension of
the industrial language, drafting, students will be better
equipped to understand our industrial/technological society, its
methods of operations and existing opportunities in related
fields.

To develop
in the student the ability to interpret, reproduce and construct
graphic representations in accordance with standard industrial
procedures.

To develop
in the student, habits which are conducive to success:
self-discipline, self-evaluation, cooperation, patience,
cleanliness, ability to follow specific instructions, logistic
approach to problem solving, organizational abilities, and quality
workmanship.

To develop
in the student the ability to express individual ideas in a form
other than the written or spoken word.

To expose
students to the ever-increasing application of computers in the
drafting field.

To make
students aware of the numerous career, recreational and personal
enhancement opportunities available in drafting and related
fields.

To begin
to develop physical skills which will be useful in numerous
activities throughout life.
