GRADING POLICY

The following grading system is used by the Pottsgrove High School...

93-100

=

 (A) Excellent
85-92 =  (B) Above Average
77-84 =  (C) Average
70-76 =  (D) Below Average
Below 70 =  (F) Failure

 

 Grades of individual assignments determine each marking period's (quarter) grade. In addition, Mid-term and Final exams are included to calculate a student's Final grade for the course as follows...

 

  Quarter 1 20%
+ Quarter 2 20%
+ Mid-Term Exam 10%
+ Quarter 3 20%
+ Quarter 4 20%
+ Final Exam 10%
= FINAL GRADE 100%

 

 A total points system is used in Communications 1 to determine student grades for individual assignments as well as quarter grades. Student projects or assignments of greater complexity are weighted by increasing the total number of points a student must obtain in order to receive a 100%.  Periodically each student is given a grade sheet which shows the assignments given, the possible number of points and grades for assignments that they have completed. Students OR parents may request these grade sheets at any time! Each student's grades are totaled for the quarter and divided by the number of points that could have been achieved to calculate their percentage grade as follows...
