In
today's technical world, we take for
granted the complex web page designs
along with the 'cool' interactivity
provided through the use of 'plug
ins' , scripts, and java
applications. Web page
software, like most modern day
programs are the results of years of
development and refinement.
Early web page creation had to be
done exclusively through the writing
of programming code (HTML: Hyper
Text Markup Language) which was
extremely cumbersome and often times
difficult to master. In addition the
required companion software (web
browser software, Netscape, Internet
Explorer, etc..) had to be able to
interpret the HTML code to correctly
display the web page on the user's
computer no matter what brand or
platform was being used (Mac vs PC)
As a result early web pages were
mostly text and had little if any
graphics. While the creation
of higher level dynamic web pages may still require the writing of code,
modern graphical interface programs allow many a novice user to create
dynamic and functional web pages/sites. We will begin exploring such a
program as we cover some basic
skills in web page design.
